FCC Postpones Rebanding True-Up Date

Just before the New Year, with four days to spare, the FCC postponed the 800 MHz rebanding "true-up" date for financial reconciliation.  The true-up process is meant to tally the number of creditable rebanding costs incurred by Sprint for the rebanding mandate, and to settle the amount that will be owed by Sprint to the U.S. Treasury.

This amount will be determined by the difference in the value of the 1.9 GHz spectrum awarded to Sprint vs. the costs incurred for rebanding and relocation of Broadcast Auxiliary Service licenses in the 1.9 GHz band. The new date for the true-up, which has been postponed several times, is scheduled for July 1, 2013.
