King's project required her to go above and beyond her educational requirements to pursue ham radio licenses, so that she could operate components of her device. Like King, Public Safety radio officers, from the most seasoned to the greenest of the green, must self-educate and constantly push forward to understand the highly technical and specialized industry. Even scratching the surface of the knowledge required in this field demands good effort and solid resources.
Mastery of the current concepts and those on the horizon boils down to one principle: remember to never stop learning.
